Trek

Ian and I went on a youth trip with our church. We did a pioneer trek. It was lots of fun. They put us into families. We called ourselves the Holy Rollers. In our little Family we had four boys and three girls. Neither Ian or I really knew any of these youth before the trek. We pulled hand carts and had a hard time doing it. They were quite heavy. We had to pull all our gear for the next three days and food and water. Plus dutch ovens and other things for cooking with. We learned a lot about the struggles the pioneers went through. At one point the young men were sent to "war" so that left us with the hand carts and our Pa. We had to do the hardest pulls without our young men. It was hard; but I tell you what there are some very strong women around these parts. Of course I know we wouldn't have made it without our Pa (Ian). It was really fun.

We had to cook our own food. Dad you would be so proud I even ate the chicken after handling it raw. This was the second night and we ate so good. Of course it could've been that I was so hungry.

On our second day of pulling our we went only about five or six miles. It doesn't sound like much until you have to pull a three hundred plus pound hand cart.
Ian is taking a long needed rest. This is my favorite picture.
